McBrand Yourself!

October 30, 2009

Everyone and anyone are branding themselves nowadays- literally! Individual people have websites for themselves; branding their name, values, and their strengths. I recently read an article on CNN where they recommended that everyone find the time to brand themselves, to get themselves out there, “so that if someone needs that expertise, they’ll come to you first.”

As a small business, this same principle applies. Many of the best and brightest companies find themselves struggling to make an impact in their industry because they are competing with the big dogs. Not only are they competing for business, they are competing for talent. No one knows who they are. Problem is- they don’t have a multi-million dollar marketing budget.

The solution? There’s a million! All you need to do is figure out who your target audience is. Where do they go? What do they like? Social networking sites have made it incredibly easy to make a page for your business to garner popularity. Set up a blog and talk about what you know best- your industry. Reach out to local school for trainings or speaking events. The possibilities are endless!

Do not underestimate the power of branding yourself.
