Recruitment with Social Media

October 23, 2009

lft

Social Media is a powerful tool employers do not plan on ignoring coming into the end of 2009 and moving into the beginning of 2010.  According to a survey conducted by Ethos Business Law in July 2009, social media is being used as a means to enhance relationships with customers, build a company’s brand, as a customer service tool,  boost employee morale, and add to the recruitment process.  In “Hire Smarter With Social Media”, Alexander Samuel provides suggestions for using social media with recruitment as an innovative way to find qualified applicants.  A few of the suggestions are:

  • Encourage your existing network to forward, blog about, and tweet your job openings.
  • Post job openings on Facebook page and/or as a status update.
  • Tweet the URL of the job opening.
  • Post your job on your own blog.

Taking Samuel’s suggestions one step further, why not use social media in conjunction with traditional recruitment marketing techniques to connect recruitment efforts into a full circle?  Insert links into traditional techniques such as job postings and recruitment email campaigns in order to direct traffic to company LinkedIn profiles, Facebook, and Twitter pages.  Simultaneously link social media profiles and pages back to the job postings.  Recruitment initiatives would have an uninterrupted connection to the company’s brand and become interactive for potential applicants.
